overview -
The Climate Change Adaptation Plan was created by the City of St. Catharines to evaluate present and future climate impacts, risks, and vulnerabilities. The primary goal of this initiative was to prioritize the development of a climate-resilient community. This was achieved through the creation of a comprehensive plan spanning nearly one hundred pages, with a modern and minimalist creative approach.
approach -
The design of the Climate Change Adaptation Plan was created to embody a minimalist and thought-provoking visual aesthetic. The cover utilized a subdued blue background, harmonizing with the corporate colour palette. With the use of layering, transparencies, environmental photography, and digital illustrations, the cover provided insight into the dynamics of change and the effects of time and action. A distinct element of recognition was placed through the subtle incorporation of the chevron from the City's logo, symbolizing future preparedness with a forward/upward placement. Another element of recognition was achieved by juxtaposing the city's official flower, the chrysanthemum, in both full colour and grayscale, capturing the essence of rapid change.
The entire document was designed to adhere to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) guidelines.
